Ministry of road transport and highway recently published  gazette notification on ammendment of fitness certificate for Transport Vehicle.


Amendment No.GSR 272(E)


Ammendment Name: Renewal of certificate of fitness for Transport vehicles.

Ammendment Rule: 

CMVR 1989 Rule No. 62(b(1))


For ammendment power  conferred by section 58(1) of Motor Vehicle Act 1988.

Definition of Transport Vehicle According to Section 2 of Motor Vehicle Act 1988 .

“Transport Vehicle” means a public service vehicle, a goods carriage, an educational institution Bus or private service vehicle"


Fitness certificate validity and renewal for transport vehicle.



Two years for Transport vehicle up to 8 year old


One year for Transport vehicle older than 8 year




Fitness test shall be done at ATS (Automated Testing Station) registered in accordance

with the rule 175 of CMVR 1989.
